School Nutrition Program - Summer 2025

Dear Evergreen Families,

In the Summer 2025, the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) School Nutrition Programs will be participating in the federal SUN Bucks program. In this program, families with children who qualify for free or reduced-priced school meals through the National School Lunch Program may receive $120 on a preloaded card per eligible child to spend on groceries over the summer.

While students attending schools that provide Community Eligibility Provision (as the Evergreen School District does) receive meals at no cost during the school year, the SUN Bucks Program requires individual income determination for each student. If your child(ren) have not already been determined as directly certified via SNAP, TANF, FDPIR, Homeless, Runaway, Migrant, Foster Care, or Medicaid, then you must complete an application in order to apply for SUN Bucks benefits if you think you may qualify.

To apply for SUN Bucks benefits, please complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals (FRAPP). Be sure to provide a current address when filling out your application. For more information on SUNBucks or for instructions on completing the application, please visit MT OPI’s website: https://opi.mt.gov/Leadership/Management-Operations/SchoolNutrition/SUN-Bucks.

Thank you,

Joan Jepsen
